Water Project #1

This project took place in Amatitan, a rural community in La Paz Centro, León, Nicaragua. Home to approximately 260 families, Amatitan is a hardworking community known for its cultivation efforts and the production of mud bricks, palm roofing, and raw construction materials. Despite their resourcefulness, the area suffers from extreme poverty and a lack of basic infrastructure—families often travel by foot, bicycle, or horse carriage, and running water was only available for two hours a day.

To address this, the team installed a 22,000-liter water tank, a purification system, and a concrete foundation, integrating the solution into the community’s existing system to ensure consistent access to clean drinking water. The project not only improved daily life but also created jobs for local workers.

In the second phase, a new playground was built for the children—a space designed for joy and play in a place that needed it most. Every permit, logistical challenge, and construction hurdle was met with purpose.

Artist and humanitarian Jonatan Eli Espinoza Perez played a vital role throughout this process. His commitment and partnership were instrumental in making this vision a reality.
